The figure hugging bodycon dress has been the go-to style
for a night out for quite some time now; it’s sexy, daring and completely shows
off the female shape. What’s not to love? But did you know that we have the early
90’s to thank for this popular trend? A lot of the bodycon styles we see in our
favourite high street stores today are very similar to those worn by
celebrities on the red carpet during that decade. French fashion house Herve
Leger was credited with popularising the bodycon trend with the invention of
the Bandage Dress (you all know what this is girls!) it was created with the
intention of moulding to the wearer’s figure. In today’s fashion, wearing a bodycon dress is a bold
statement of body confidence. Contrary to what you might think a lot of
different shapes and sizes can pull this style off.
Those of you who have a slim athletic figure and no
exaggerated curves will benefit from choosing a bodycon dress that has volume
to the shoulders. Try dresses that have a slightly padded or embellished detail
on the shoulders. A high neckline will give the illusion of a larger chest, opt
for a shorter style to show off your amazing long.
Bodycon styles can be extremely flattering for you pear
shaped ladies. Pear shape means your hip measurement is generally larger than
both your waist and chest measurements, meaning you will most likely have a one
very juicy butt! (Kimmy K anyone?!) Bodycon styles are ideal for pears as they
don’t add any unnecessary bulk to your bum! If you’re not confident enough to
go for a full bodycon dress, a bodycon skirt can be teamed with a loose blouse
to balance out your figure and still make you look seriously sexy.
The Hourglass; the body shape every woman wishes for! If you are lucky
enough to be the proud owner of an hourglass shape this means that your bust
and hip measurements are almost exactly the same whilst your waist is
considerably smaller. Bodycon dresses are the most flattering on this shape as
they will highlight all of your gorgeous curves and make you look undeniably
feminine. They won’t add any extra bulk to your figure and will show off that
tiny waist!
